Classifications of Sins

 Psalm: 51-4,5 " Against you, Your only, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight; That you may be found just when you speak, and blameless when you judge"

"Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me"


You can classify the sin into two parts

1. Original Sin

2. Actual / Personal Sin

ORIGINAL SIN indicates the corrupt nature of the entire human race. Adam and Eve willfully went away from God by disobeying and eating the fruit in the Garden of Eden is one example for this type.

ACTUAL/ PERSONAL SIN refers to voluntary violation of a known law of God by a morally responsible person (Romer 3:23) "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

Further classified into SIN OF COMMISSION and SIN OF OMISSION


Further Classification

a. Individual Sins: - Sin against God; Sin against Man 

b. Family Sins: - Parents; Children

c. Church Sins: - Pastors (leaders); People or congregation

d. State & National Sins: Citizens; leaders (politicians)


Sin Against God: lack of love, devotion, no fear for God, stubbornness

Sin against Man: False witness, lying, murder, suicide, anger, hatred, neglect of poor and widows, Drug abuse, and drunkenness

Sins of Parents: Adultery, Spousal neglect, Child neglect, failure of the husband to love their wives, and failure of wives to submit to the husband, Failure of fathers to raising children in the Nurture & Admonition of the lord.

Sins of Childrens: Rebellion and disobedience to parents; Neglect of elderly parents, drugs, sex

Sins of Pastors (leaders): failure to be an example for the flock, failure to tend Gods flock, Neglect of truth in preaching,

Sins of People or Congregation: Unfaithful church attendance, selfish failure to serve brethren, failure to be salt to the nation

Sins of Citizens: Willful ignorance and neglect of community, state, and national affairs; Passive and active support for evil leaders

Sins of Politicians: Judicial, legislative and executive actions, using international influence to promote immorality and abortion; violation of the church and religious evil liberties.
